{"id":520,"date":"2011-02-18T18:59:51","date_gmt":"2011-02-18T18:59:51","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.absoluteafrica.com\/liveblog\/?p=520"},"modified":"2014-03-07T20:19:06","modified_gmt":"2014-03-07T20:19:06","slug":"day-10-11-serengeti-national-park-ngorongoro-crater","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.absoluteafrica.com\/liveblog\/2011\/02\/day-10-11-serengeti-national-park-ngorongoro-crater\/","title":{"rendered":"Day 9 &#038; 10 &#8211; Serengeti National Park &#038; Ngorongoro Crater"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>We had to be organised this morning\u00a0 as we had to transfer belongings into the 4&#215;4\u2019s ready to head off to the Serengeti.\u00a0 A few hours drive and we were at the park gates and fortunately the rains had stopped it was time to see what we could find.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.absoluteafrica.com\/liveblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/02\/Aly-day-9-Ellie.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-medium wp-image-528\" title=\"Aly day 9 Ellie\" src=\"http:\/\/www.absoluteafrica.com\/liveblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/02\/Aly-day-9-Ellie-300x200.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"200\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.absoluteafrica.com\/liveblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/02\/Aly-day-9-Ellie-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.absoluteafrica.com\/liveblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/02\/Aly-day-9-Ellie.jpg 754w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a>After a short drive we came across the first of the big five a family of elephants who got pretty close to the vehicles.\u00a0\u00a0Next was\u00a0an abundance of wildebeest and another of the big five the Buffalo.\u00a0 A pride of lions were then seen lazing around in the long grass.\u00a0 It was a pretty good start to the game drives.<\/p>\n<p>We set up camp inside the park boundaries and had an enjoyable dinner around the camp fire.\u00a0 It was a night to\u00a0be alert\u00a0as anything could wander through camp.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.absoluteafrica.com\/liveblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/02\/Aly-day-9-Vehicle.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-529\" title=\"Aly day 9 Vehicle\" src=\"http:\/\/www.absoluteafrica.com\/liveblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/02\/Aly-day-9-Vehicle-300x200.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"200\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.absoluteafrica.com\/liveblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/02\/Aly-day-9-Vehicle-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.absoluteafrica.com\/liveblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/02\/Aly-day-9-Vehicle.jpg 591w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a>We were up when the stars were still out to get on our way with the early morning game drive.\u00a0 The first animal we came across was a spotted Hyena lazing in the grass looking very well fed!\u00a0 Again there were plenty of elephants and giraffes around all happy with the fresh supply of water to their watering holes.\u00a0 Again we saw the lions that we had seen the previous day but this time there were two male lions.
