Masai Mara"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A very early start this morning so we can get to the Mara in good time.\u00a0 A few snores were heard from the truck this morning as we made our way to the first stop on our journey, Narok.\u00a0 Here it was time to grab the best samosas outside of India.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.absoluteafrica.com\/liveblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/02\/Maasai2.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-500\" title=\"Maasai2\" src=\"http:\/\/www.absoluteafrica.com\/liveblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/02\/Maasai2-300x200.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"200\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.absoluteafrica.com\/liveblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/02\/Maasai2-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.absoluteafrica.com\/liveblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/02\/Maasai2.jpg 1024w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a>A short drive to the turning onto the road to the Mara, seatbelts needed to be\u00a0tightened as it was a very bumpy road!!\u00a0 After about two hours we arrived at the Masai Village.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 After a welcoming dance by the resident warriors and local ladies it was our turn to join in.\u00a0 We had interesting talk and walk around the village, discovering the lifestyle of the Masai villagers.<\/p>\n<p>It was then time to enter the park.\u00a0 Our first animal encounter was with, zebras and topis.\u00a0 Time to keep our eyes peeled for some of the big five.\u00a0 <a href=\"http:\/\/www.absoluteafrica.com\/liveblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/02\/Ellie-bull2b.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-medium wp-image-503\" title=\"Ellie bull2b\" src=\"http:\/\/www.absoluteafrica.com\/liveblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/02\/Ellie-bull2b-300x208.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"208\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.absoluteafrica.com\/liveblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/02\/Ellie-bull2b-300x208.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.absoluteafrica.com\/liveblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/02\/Ellie-bull2b.jpg 542w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a>The first one was a group of elephants including some very small ones who were searching for water in the very dry landscape.\u00a0 We continued on through the park, there lying under the shade of some bushes were a pride of lions with nine cubs. \u00a0It was an awesome sight, even more so when we spotted the male lion lying amongst the grass on his back with his legs in the air!!!<\/p>\n<p>These were very last lions we spent a bit of time with them and then continued on through the park.\u00a0 Unfortunately due to it being so hot a lot of the animals were taking shelter although there was still an abundance of gazelles, zebras and topis.<\/p>\n<p>We headed just outside the park gates and to our camp site on the Talek River.\u00a0 With our Askari protecting us for the night we listened to the noises of the local wildlife wandering around us.\u00a0 Let\u2019s hope we all have a peaceful sleep!!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A very early start this morning so we can get to the Mara in good time.\u00a0 A few snores were heard from the truck this morning as we made our way to the first stop on our journey, Narok.\u00a0 Here &hellip;
