{"id":140,"date":"2010-11-27T14:46:19","date_gmt":"2010-11-27T14:46:19","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.absoluteafrica.com\/liveblog\/?p=140"},"modified":"2014-03-09T09:23:15","modified_gmt":"2014-03-09T09:23:15","slug":"jinja-day-8-9","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.absoluteafrica.com\/liveblog\/2010\/11\/jinja-day-8-9\/","title":{"rendered":"Jinja, Day 8 &#038; 9"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Unfortunately Ugandan internet access is a bit &#8220;quirky&#8221; at times &amp; I can&#8217;t\u00a0upload photo&#8217;s at the moment . . . .will add them as soon as I can!<\/p>\n<p>Group Dynamics!!\u00a0 The guys are now very familiar with the workings of the truck and their roles in making this safari a success.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0so, we\u00a0have now spiced the trip up with a few group \u201crules\u201d and implemented a \u201cchain of shame\u201d <a href=\"http:\/\/www.absoluteafrica.com\/liveblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/11\/Chain-of-shame.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-183\" title=\"Chain of shame\" src=\"http:\/\/www.absoluteafrica.com\/liveblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/11\/Chain-of-shame-200x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"200\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.absoluteafrica.com\/liveblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/11\/Chain-of-shame-200x300.jpg 200w, https:\/\/www.absoluteafrica.com\/liveblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/11\/Chain-of-shame-682x1024.jpg 682w, https:\/\/www.absoluteafrica.com\/liveblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/11\/Chain-of-shame.jpg 1379w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 200px) 100vw, 200px\" \/><\/a>which is no more than a little extra \u201cbling\u201d to be worn as punishment for 24 hours. \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Once a person is nominated for doing something inappropriate, or for some sort of foolish shenanigans, the group votes as to whether or not the chain should be given to that person. \u00a0\u00a0So far Steph has had to wear it for poor control of her beer glass, during a night out at a local bar. \u00a0Kyra wore it for not having faith in her tour leader\u00a0when he\u00a0guaranteed a rhino sighting in Lake Nakuru National Park. \u00a0I have recently worn the chain for allegedly having bad taste in music and wearing white socks with dark shoes. \u00a0Today Lydia must wear it for having a local man comment on her dress sense and stating that it was not conservative enough for a Uganda street market.<\/p>\n<p>Village Quad biking! \u00a0Decked out in khaki overalls, bandanas, 1950\u2019s motorcycle goggles and German style army helmets makes one feel as if they are going into the great unknown. \u00a0The ride takes us through local villages and along the shores of the White Nile all the while getting greeted by swarms of kids hanging out of their family huts. \u00a0Giving \u201chigh fives\u201d whilst riding is a challenge, but after the first 50, you are quite confident at it. \u00a0Not a fast paced event but the 6 month old kids playing on the roads and paths need to be considered. \u00a0It\u2019s a great way to see some of the Nile and get into the heart of the local villages and see local kids.<\/p>\n<p>We had a three course meal at a local restaurant and at the end of our meal we are entertained by the local village children with singing and dancing and some local \u2018rapping\u2019. \u00a0A good evening was had by all.<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Tip of the day:<\/em><\/strong> It is not a suntan that you get while Quad biking, more a fake dirttan.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Unfortunately Ugandan internet access is a bit &#8220;quirky&#8221; at times &amp; I can&#8217;t\u00a0upload photo&#8217;s at the moment . . . .will add them as soon as I can!
