It wasn&#8217;t premeditated to be leaving Shoestrings Backpackers in Victoria falls at 6am on a Sunday morning!<\/div>\n<div id=\"_mcePaste\">Today is my first day as the groups new tour leader. And if that&#8217;s not enough, I will sweeten them up with a BBQ tonight. Can you see it? Think crackling bonfire, wood fueled BBQ with boerewors sausages and rump steak, African sky overhead, elephant crashing around in the bush close by, the call of the hippo, washed down with a few beers.<\/div>\n<div id=\"_mcePaste\">We&#8217;re on Safari!!<\/div>\n<h2>Day Two<\/h2>\n<div id=\"_mcePaste\">The drive to Maun started early by head torch at 6am. It&#8217;s coming into winter here in Botswana so the mornings are chilly. Highly endangered and very rare to see. We sat and watched them playing and sunning themselves in the morning warmth. \u00a0 We continue on skirting the Kalahari Desert down towards the worlds largest inland Delta, the Okavango.<\/div>\n<h2>Day Three<\/h2>\n<div id=\"attachment_1297\" style=\"width: 210px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.absoluteafrica.com\/liveblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/05\/Africa-6-001.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-1297\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-1297 \" title=\"Reed frogs landing in our boat\" src=\"http:\/\/www.absoluteafrica.com\/liveblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/05\/Africa-6-001-200x300.jpg\" alt=\"Great seeing the reed frogs land in our boat\" width=\"200\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.absoluteafrica.com\/liveblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/05\/Africa-6-001-200x300.jpg 200w, https:\/\/www.absoluteafrica.com\/liveblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/05\/Africa-6-001-685x1024.jpg 685w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 200px) 100vw, 200px\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-1297\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Reed frogs<\/p><\/div>\n<div id=\"_mcePaste\">Head off this morning in our mokoro as we head out into the bush. \u00a0Passing the resident hippos and watching out for the reed frogs landing in our boats we arrive at camp. \u00a0After lunch and a small siesta we head out for an afternoon game walk. \u00a0Sighting the odd zebra, buffalo and a few elephant in the distance .<\/div>\n<div id=\"_mcePaste\">As we gather around the fire preparing dinner, the moon is almost new and the sky is bright with the Milky Way overhead. The camp fire crackles to the noise of crickets, cicadas and frogs. There&#8217;s nothing quite like camping deep in the African bush.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>It&#8217;s nearing the end of another day.
